Dog and cat Google searches surge to new high during COVID

发布时间:2025-04-27 04:19:32

The internet is googling about dogs and cats more than ever and, honestly, I get it.

Times are bad: The new coronavirus has sickened more than 1.3 million and killed some 80,000 people worldwide.

Dogs and cats, meanwhile, are good.

Billions of people have also been urged to stay home to stop the spread of the virus, which has seemingly left lots of folks with extra time to go online and look at good dogs and cats.

Google Trends reported on Wednesday that "search interest in both Dog and Cat reached an all-time high" worldwide. (For what it's worth, there was apparently more interest in dogs.)

Here's a handy little graph of that data, via Google Trends.

The top related searches for both dogs and cats were both meme related.

And in a bit of good news, Google also noted the phrase "foster a dog near me" reached an all-time high in the United States.

Google Trends has a whole new section on COVID-19 trends that shows what people are interested in when it comes to the virus.

But, one assumes, they're also interested in getting away from the scary news for a moment with fun stuff about dogs and cats. If that's the case for you, Mashable's got your back: Here are some kittens visiting an aquarium; Here are dogs and cats refusing to let their humans work out; And here's a good pup delivering wine.
